F.A.Q.

F.A.Q.'s: Frequently Asked Questions About Wheatware™

Why is the company's primary focus on wooden replacements?
The world’s forests need our immediate help! Mass global use of wood products has claimed much of the world’s virgin forests. Not only are the trees lost, but the precious species that reside there. Buying tree-free Wheatware™ wood replacement products can help save these species by reducing demand for wood, thereby reducing logging. Wooden disposable chopsticks, for example, consume up to 40 million trees annually. An alternative to wooden chopsticks is needed and Wheatware™ chopsticks offer the needed solution!

Are Wheatware™ Bio-Compostables biodegradable?
Yes, Wheatware™ Bio-Compostable products are designed to biodegrade in 45 to 90 days in microbially-active soil or a commercial compost facility.

Are all Wheatware™ products compostable (ASTM D6400-04)?
Currently, the Wheatware™ Bio-Compostable product line is compostable meeting ASTM D6400-04 standard (International Compostable Standard). The Cornware product line is biodegradable.

Wheatware™ BioMass-75 products are not compostable, because they have a small percentage of plastic, yet consist of mostly wheat. Wheatware™ BioMass-75 products reduce the consumption of our natural resources, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and they feel great too!

Are Wheatware™ Bio-Compostables non-toxic?
Yes. Wheatware™ ASTM D6400-04 Bio-Compostable products, once composted are used as fertilizer, and accelerate plant growth per independent studies. In addition, these Wheatware™ compostable products, if incinerated, are dioxin-free, smell sweet and resolve into a dry white powder, an advantage for both the local communities near incineration plants and the earth's atmosphere, as well as incineration plants.

Are Wheatware™ Bio-Compostables heat resistant?
Yes, it withstands heat of 190°F to 210°F, greatly expanding the range of applications.

Are Wheatware™ Bio-Compostables recyclable?
Yes, Wheatware™ can eventually be reclaimed and made into further Wheatware™ Products. Our future plans include the development of second-generation products, made from recycled Wheatware™. This will help lessen the planetary burden on landfills, where in most major urban cities, landfills are steadily being closed. As each landfill closes, trash is being trucked longer distances, contributing to air pollution and traffic congestion. This increased use of our roads by heavy trash trucks accelerates the need for road repair. This costly expense is passed on to you, the taxpayer. Wheatware is an all round affordable solution to multiple societal problems.

Will Wheatware™ impact the wheat supply?
No. On average there is a 50 billion bushel wheat surplus annually (150 million metric tons). We forecast it will take 10 years of accelerated Wheatware™ production capacity to reach 5-10% of the annual wheat surplus! Meanwhile, the U.S. Government continues to offer subsidies to farmers to not grow wheat. There is a plentiful supply of wheat, an abundant, renewable resource. By future recycling of Wheatware™, each bushel of wheat in effect is reclaimed and reused over and over, thus one bushel can create a lifetime of products.

If I am allergic to wheat food products, will I be allergic to Wheatware™?
No. During the manufacturing process, Wheatware™ becomes similar to plastic. So, if you can use plastic products without an allergic reaction, you should also safely be able to use Wheatware™.

Can people eat Wheatware™ Compostable products?
No, Wheatware™ is not edible and could damage your teeth due to its rigidity. We know musicians can get very hungry on the road, though please do not try to eat your Wheatware™ guitar picks.
